Finely slice the following to make a slaw-Brussel sprouts, green capsicum, red onion, cucumber and apple and dress with a garlicy lemony dijon dressing and add in a handful of parmesan for extra oomph. Say one clove garlic, juice of a lemon, tablespoon dijon and about the same amount of oil as juice. Shake together in a jar. Whizz up some @berkelo.au rye and crumb some bashed out pork fillet👌🏻
I’m not sure about this photo, but let’s roll I’m not sure about this photo, but let’s roll with it. Taken after surf number two on the day that sees the completion of my 42nd trip around the sun. Getting to know myself this year was ugly. Heartbreaking. Life affirming. I now know I define myself by what I love to do. And if I can’t do that. I shut down. I’m talking about cooking. Creating. Working. Doing. What I have also come to realise this year is my need to express myself through words. Words are how I see, feel and process the world. Something a friend pointed out is not universal. And these words are ones to evoke emotion. Create connection. Make you nod. And so @becominga_mermaid was created. Stories about making my childhood saltwater dream come true. Also thank you. For being on this journey with me. Here’s to more delicious food, want to make recipes and heart warming stories.

This is Casey. Super human. Mum to three of the mo This is Casey. Super human. Mum to three of the most gorgeous girls you’ve ever seen, owner of @beachescoworking , extraordinary cook, fluent in Spanish (she’s mates with Frank Camora of Movida from her foodie tour days in Spain, yep, her business), ocean lover and surfer, kind, generous and a really, really fast walker. I reckon that’s the biggest tell to her personality. She’s focused, driven and energetic. Like a lot of us Casey was feeling sad, frustrated and helpless for all the local business on the Northern Beaches who are suffering because of Covid19. So last night she decided to do something about it and @buyonthebeaches was born. Go and follow her initiative to find out about all the incredible people and their small business in our area @caseymerwood
When I was at uni I worked as a cashier in an Ital When I was at uni I worked as a cashier in an Italian restaurant in the West End of Glasgow @dimaggiosrestaurants I took bookings and take away orders, compiled bills, reconciled the till, even made coffee. Good lord the coffee I made was awful! And every shift I would get to choose something for dinner. If I was taking it home, always a pizza, with artichokes, mushrooms and olives. And extra chili. The bases were amazing. Even if the Scottish pizza chef, a wiry, moody wee man, was freakin scary. The head chef was actually scarier. Asking for your meal was a rite of passage as she shouted “what” in no particular direction. I often had fusilli el Greco, loaded with crunchy carrots, broccoli and capsicum and cubes of salty feta. Tonight’s clean out the fridge pasta is a salutation to those times. To that restaurant. To the dish.

@buyonthebeaches Ok, I’m sick of sitting around whinging about how so many businesses on the Northern Beaches have just missed their biggest trading weeks ... so I've decided to do something about it.

We need to shop local to get our local businesses back on their feet.

Full stop.

And we have so many amazing businesses, there's really no need to shop outside of the Northern Beaches.

So, we're going to showcase all these awesome businesses and encourage everyone to shop locally. It's very rough and ready, but whatever, we'll make it pretty later once all the businesses are back and firing.

Will you help us? We just need you to:
👉 spread the word to everyone you know (not just NB locals!)
👉 share this post (and every post from now on!)
👉 encourage your business friends to let us know they exist: https://forms.gle/KKVGBBPT7wXPZ5pY6

Give us a 👍 in the comments so we know you're with us!
